ABOUT

SEAGER is a recently established commercial art gallery located in Deptford, South East London, UK. The programme is focused on art that uses digital technology in its process, as its product, or as its subject. By bringing digital methods into the physical gallery space, SEAGER endeavours to reflect on the implementations of digitization for society and provide a context for new positions around art and life to emerge.

Pop-up shows; residencies; physical and online exhibitions reflect our interest in the development of emerging artistic voices, a vital element to our ambitious activities which also extend to showcasing local and international artists at art fairs. We welcome multivocal and fresh critical perspectives into the gallery. SEAGER remains open and approachable for exhibition proposals or for live events.

“We welcome multivocal and fresh critical perspectives into the gallery.”

LOCATION & HISTORY

SEAGER is perched on the site which housed Seager Evans and Co. 's gin distillery from 1922 to 1970. We take our name from the distillery as a nod to Lewisham Borough regional history.

Now, a 27-storey tower, that is The Distillery Tower rises 265ft above our heads…

Across from Deptford DLR and from Deptford Broadway leading out of town towards Dover in one direction and connecting to the Old Kent Road on the other, SEAGER is to be found next to the edge of Deptford Creek streaming into the Thames. Some adventurous visitors to the gallery take the footpath alongside our building for mud larking; spoils of the day range from bones to other miscellaneous memorabilia.

The gallery is fully wheelchair accessible. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any other access needs, or simply want to share your thoughts.
